Side Dish


Sookju namul is a refreshing side dish and very easy to make. Sookju namul can also be used in dishes such as bibimbap and bean dae dduk (mung bean pancakes).
  • 32 oz mung bean sprouts
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 5 cloves garlic
  • 2 green onions
  • 2 tsp sesame seed oil

Vegetable Preparation
  1. Wash mung bean sprouts 2 times until clean and place in a strainer.
Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat a large pot of water until it boils, add 1 tbsp salt, and blanch the mung bean sprouts for 2 minutes until they soften. Strain the cooked mung bean sprouts but do not rinse cold water over them. Set the mung bean sprouts aside and let cool.
Seasoning Instructions
  1. Add 2 tsp salt, 5 cloves of minced garlic, 2 chopped green onions, 2 tsp sesame seed oil, and mix thoroughly by hand.
